From Kyrgyzstan to MENTEE
By Begimai Muminova

Hi, my name is Begimai.  I moved to USA last year in May from Kyrgyzstan.  When we saw the airport, people from different countries, smiling, kind, I was very interested and really wanted to see the whole city, my school, and my future friends and teachers. My summer holidays were fun and memorable. In the same year 2017, I went to a new school Mather, before the first day of study I had thoughts about how I would study? who will I be friends with? and what will happen if I do not understand the language? will it be difficult for me? But no, it turned out the opposite. In my school, such students and teachers who will support you, kind, will help and understand. In the summer I went to the summer program where I learned a lot of skills, met many of the best lawyers, and received a lot of positives.

“There is only one important thing for everyone in life – to give yourself a good mood. Only in this one case, a person does not have interference, and only from this case a person is always happy” Also, we have different ethnic clubs at school. I am in the Russian Club, my club is where my teacher is like my second mother, my classmates are like my own brothers and sisters, we are like one big family. Last week we went to the MENTEE field trip. When we first got into this huge, beautiful, clean bus the feelings were different, we saw a lot of different students from different schools. I knew that we were all special, and I am very glad that we are one of these special students . We were taken to a huge university, we entered the classroom where it was beautiful. We were met by people who are successful, kind, and full of emotions. They presented themselves and shared their advice, it was just amazing, very interesting and emotional. Each of them shared different skills.

“Only through difficulties a person can become successful” I am now studying in the 12th grade, I am applying for colleges and scholarships. I will try very hard to participate in such different events and programs because it will help us in the future also in life. Our mentors are the people who can support us in difficult times, listen to us and help us. It is a great honor for me to visit such a program and meet my mentor. We have a great chance to fulfill our dreams and get a good education. Our future depends on us. I will not give up, I will study well and try my best!
