I have never prayed before, but I sure did pray for my dad that day

Early one spring Sunday about ten years ago when my father was incarcerated for a faulty gun charge and my mom was falling apart. My mom dragged me and all three of my siblings to her old high school with a church in the auditorium, that she had heard about from a friend. When we walked in the music was blasting and the deacons welcomed us to their church.
The next thing I remember my mom was crying and praying, asking God to bring my father home. When I saw my mother break down, it made me miss my dad more. I’d never prayed before, but I sure did pray for him that day. I whispered for him to be back and three months later he was home. I started believing in a god I couldn’t see and I loved him because he gave me something that meant so much to me. I would say that this was my first encounter with God and it changed my life forever. I heard in the bible and later read it on my own, that if you believe in Christ Jesus, you’ll have eternal life.
